17th ANNIVERSARY BIRTHDAY BASH, Cape Kitchen, Newhaven ? Saturday 20th June. Part 2.

The excellent run from Warragul and the superb sunny winter?s day set a very high benchmark for our birthday lunch venue The Cape Kitchen, but things continued in the same vein, making this a very successful day.? The restaurant is located just off the main Phillip Island Rd at Newhaven overlooking the rugged island coastline.

Inside the restaurant the floor to ceiling windows provided a panoramic view of the coastline with views out into Bass Strait, the tables were excellently presented and the staff warmly welcomed the GSCCR members. ?On arrival most of the initial fellowship discussions were of the great route that was mapped out from Warragul to Newhaven.? We are fortunate to have access to such a plethora of scenic driving routes and our thanks must go to Steve Schmidt and Graeme Hollingsworth for mapping this route out for us.

Next the members sat down to a beautifully presented and delicious entr?e and main course with fabulous service. Mark McKibbin officially welcomed all members and led a stirring rendition of Happy Birthday to mark the 17th anniversary. The honour of cutting the birthday cake was entrusted to the Club?s foundation?secretary, Graeme Hollingsworth. The cake was then cut up for all members to enjoy as dessert with coffee.

Special thanks must go to Doug Armour for undertaking the task of organising such a very successful and enjoyable Birthday Bash, with lots of fellowship and good food – not sure, however, if he had a hand in the great weather or the rainbow that appeared over Bass Strait during lunch.? Thanks also to member Kevin Gracie for once again baking such an excellent GSCCR birthday cake.
