AUTOBELLA – Italian Car Show, Como Park Melbourne, 6th April.

Yesterday the annual AUTOBELLA was run at Como Park, South Yarra, in perfect Melbourne Autumn weather. Several members of the Sporting Register attended this event which was probably the biggest and best Italian car display yet. ?By mid morning the park was filled with classic and modern cars from all the Italian marque Car Clubs as well as dealerships showing off their ranges of new Italian vehicles.? The park was a buzz with people, Italian food and cars.

Steve Schmidt had his aubergine 124 Spider on display and Mike Whitford brought along his silver Fiat Dino Coupe.? Later in the day Peter King and Betty arrived in their 124 Spider, ?and John Champion was seen wandering around with his faithful red setter, but without any of his Fiats in sight. Ferrari and Ducati owner John Althuizen decided to drive his Magna down to suss out the venue in preparation for a Ferrari day there in a few weeks time, but thankfully he kept his transport well hidden.

The day finished with the announcement of results for the concourse competition where Steve picked up second place in the Open Top category, being eclipsed by a Dino Spider, whilst Mike picked up a second place in the Coupe category beaten by a Fiat 124 Coupe. A very pleasant day was seemingly had by all; the shift from the regular February date to early April seemed to be appreciated and was a very popular move.
