A beautiful late Autumn day greeted our large group of over 35 members gathered near Woolies in Warragul. Perfect for the topless brigade, of which there was quite a few. Over 27 vehicles including 2 classic BMW motorbikes, took our route on the Old Sale Road, from Buln Buln, to near Newborough, where we all gathered back together. We only lost one car along the way, a Fiat X 1/9, who met us at the garage after losing the group.
The route continued through the Haunted Hills and via the Strzelecki Highway and Yinnar Rd to the small town of Yinnar for a brief pit stop. The countryside along the way was magnificent. and then on the the Jumbuck road past the Morwell National Park, and Churchill to Hazelwood North just off Jeeralang North Road.
The Garage, owned by Guido, who runs a Latrobe Valley Panel Beater shop, was one of the best ‘Man Caves’ I have seen. Lots of petroliana, historic pictures, signs, pumps etc as well as a fully stocked Bar. Then there was the Theatre Room, Pool Table and Pinball machines. Oh… and there was even a few classic cars. The prime exhibit was a Buick 2-door La Sabre from the early 60s, in Mazda metallic red and white, with air bag suspension and 10 inch rims. In the other shed was a pristine EH Holden Premier auto sedan with 179 engine, as well as a VL? HSV Peter Brock Commodore. There was even an early 60’s El Camino Ute, in poor condition, waiting for a restoration. The associated garden was also very nicely landscaped.
Well worth the visit.
