OCTOBER BREAKFAST CLUB, Warragul CBD – Sunday 12th October

Despite the ?Breakfast Club? competing with those car enthusiasts who like to settle down early to watch the ?Bathurst 1000?, there was still a significant number who ventured down to Warragul to display their sporting and classic treasures. It was unlikely that we would achieve the 90 plus vehicles as at the September meeting considering the clash of events but it was pleasing to see approximately 60 vehicles turned out for the morning. It was also a sign of the arrival of the warmer months with 25 roadsters being part of the display, all but one arriving with their tops down (we?re all such hardy souls!!!!).
The success of the ?Breakfast Club? was reinforced by looking around and viewing the amazing variety of cars that were on display. The diverse range included Graeme Longmore?s beautifully built Jaguar D-Type replica, a classic Riley, Vauxhall, Buick and Studebaker. Representing some of the sporting marques were MG?s, Austin Healey, Triumph, Porsches, Lotus, Mustang and Mazda. Other interesting cars were the Borgward Isabella, International Scout and the beautifully presented Honda NSX. Apologies to the other marques I haven?t mentioned.
Those members who have been attending the ?Breakfast Club? over the years have seen it continually grow in popularity, especially since it?s relocation into the ?Woolies? car park vicinity. The ?Breakfast Club? event was introduced into our club by club secretary Glenn Campbell and is based on the American ?Irvine Cars & Coffee? model, which has had the same growth in popularity and logistical issues in finding a larger car parking area. It is interesting going onto the ?Irvine Cars & Coffee? web site and reading about the growing popularity of the event and how it has sprouted a number of equivalent events across the USA. Paste http://irvine.carsandcoffee.info/ into your browser for further details. I also suggest you search on ?Youtube? for ?Irvine Cars & Coffee? and see the amazing collection of vehicles that attend each Saturday morning.
