There was a lot on today at the Rob Roy 23rd Historic and Classic Hillclimb. MG was the featured marque to celebrate its 90th anniversary. One area of the grounds was dedicated to displaying as many models of MG as possible with many in concourse condition. Each model with a sign indicating the model, years made and number of them made. In the paddock was an informal display area again with many MGs, but also other makes such as Triumph and Wolesley. At midday there was a memorial to Harry Firth, who began his motor sport career at Rob Roy on the 4th March 1948 in a P Type MG. A plaque was unveiled at the entrance to the pits to perpetuate his memory.
The weather was ideal and the hillclimb racing entertaining. Jane Vollebregt was there in her MGB GT, Lorna Chapman in her MGB Roadster and David Anderson in his MGB Roadster. There were also many other spectacular vehicles from the Mini Terrapin Replica, to the Jaguar D-Type replica. Ford Escorts and Cortina?s, Elfin Clubman?s, Caterham 7, Bugatti Type 23 and GP, Renualt Alpine and many more.
