RUNS TO: DIGGERS at DROMANA and The AUSTRALIA GARDEN at CRANBOURNE

Run to Diggers at Dromana with Lunch at Heronswood Restaurant?????????????????????? – Sunday 21st August

The Diggers Garden Run was a good event despite showers dampening the atmosphere. We all enjoyed lunch in the lounge of the Heronswood historic house and then perused the gardens. A good size group of 12 club members?had a pleasant day

The Australia Garden Run ? Sunday? September 18

An intrepid, rugged and probably insane small group met in Drouin for the run to see the expanded Royal Botanic Australia Garden in Cranbourne. The weather was, shall we say, somewhat inclement. And it was not warm either. However, 10 members, Sandra in her leaky MGB, Ed & Diane in the Alfa and John, Alex and Victoria in their very sensible Nissan X-Trail together with Pam and Glenn in the Porsche 911 set off on an adventure (Malcolm and Anne and the WRX met us at the Garden).

The route took us down the Drouin South road all the way to the Poowong-Korumburra Road, and then through Poowong to Nyora and Lang Lang via McDonalds Track. The views were spectacular (or would have been if we could see through the mist). The rain had reduced to showers as we retreated into the Lang Lang Bakery for coffee, cakes and hot pasties. ?Fortified, and with the showers now retreating, we arrived at the garden via the South Gippy Highway.

The Gardens are magnificent, even if you know nothing about native plants, and the landscaping is inspiring. Some members took a leisurely tour via an electric micro-bus, others via strolling. We all finished up in the large Caf? for lunch and hot drinks. By now the sun was almost visible.
