TOOLANGI TAVERN RUN ? Sunday 19th July

The morning dawned crisp and cool, and with the promise of a beautiful sunny day?? we were not disappointed. Unfortunately it was not warm enough for the sports cars to have their roofs down but it was very pleasant just the same.
Our group of approximately 9 vehicles left the Woolies? carpark at 10:45am for a leisurely drive along the freeway from Warragul to the Nar Nar Goon turn off where we diverged to head towards Gembrook via Army Road for a coffee stop. There we were met by Col Levey and John and Julie Quail who joined us from the Melbourne side of town.
After a relaxing cuppa and chat sitting outside in the glorious sunshine we headed off through the Kirth Kiln Regional Park to Hoddles Creek and Launching Place, then on to Healesville via the Don Road, Dairy Road and the Healesville – Koo Wee Rup Rd. We passed through Healesville turning left on to the Myers Creek Road to take the picturesque and winding road to the Toolangi Tavern alongside the Toolangi State Forest.
It was lovely to see Theresa Youlden and her baby daughter waiting for us at the Toolangi Tavern and together we enjoyed the meal and atmosphere of a great country pub. As said by former famous long-term resident of Toolangi, C J Dennis, ?I Dips Me Lid? to Ray Youlden for organising a very delightful run and sorry you couldn?t be there to enjoy the drive. Hope you are recovering well from your knee operation.
Words and pictures by Phil and Judy Barnard. (A big thank-you to Phil and Judy who, at short notice, stepped up to lead the run to Toolangi after Ray’s knee operation was brought forward and clashed with the date of this event – Ed)
