SANDOWN HISTORICS Saturday 10th November

Due to the Three Lakes Run on Sunday we decided to go to Sandown on Saturday instead. It was much less crowded but the qualifying and racing is just as furious, and the weather was glorious.
Glen Campbell was our only club member competing, but Bob Russell and Ray Iken had their Chargers on display in front of the Grand Stand. The 3 musketeers were there, Mort FitzGerald, Doug Armour, and Graeme Hollingsworth,? wandering around the pits looking lost, since Mort wasn?t entered, and they had nothing to do.
Glen thought he came third in his class and waxed lyrical about his new motor. He had a great battle with a green MGF but just couldn?t get around him. Other races included the a good field of Group N tourers, plus the later model group A and C tourers, a small field of Formula 5000s, Group Sa, b, and c sports cars, the usual historic racing cars and sports racers, some F1 cars giving demo runs, and two regularity groups. Just as the Historics at the Island, it is getting so crowded on Sunday, which makes Saturday the better alterative, so to is Sandown a better bet on Saturday.
