FEBRUARY MONTHLY MEETING at DAIZIES – Thursday 14th Feb

Our first formal meeting for 2013 was very well attended with several new members attending for the first time. Ray served us a delicious roast with your choice of various salads on the side. The general meeting business was covered efficiently before the main course with several laminated? posters for the upcoming Phillip Island Classic race meeting (donated by Lloyd Shaw) auctioned off to aid the Leukemia Foundation.
After Main Course, Ron Brooks introduced Joe Broun from Morwell, whose 1955 Holden FJ Special was on display in the dining room. Joe told us of how he came to purchase this car from a deceased estate in Melbourne; but 10 years after the owner had died. After bringing the car home, Joe went to work stripping it back and rebuilding it to original specifications using as many original parts as he could. This is one of the most meticulous restorations we have seen, as Joe has gone to great lengths to ensure all the components are genuine FJ parts or exact facsimilies. Apparently Joe has several FJs back in Morwell, but this is his favourite.
