There?s a belief amongst?many enthusiasts that classic and sporting cars should be ?Driven, not Hidden?. Thankfully, quite a few Breakfast Club regulars follow that credo and bring their special vehicles out each month despite the weather forecast and local conditions. This month was one of those times where the weather obviously affected our numbers, but despite the constant rain and dismal conditions there were still enough special vehicles to put on a decent display? and of course there?s always the opportunity to meet and chat with other enthusiasts.
As usual there were a number of large sporting saloons and coupes from Mercedes and Jaguar on show with a couple of BMWs also thrown into the mix. Sports cars included a pair of MX5s and another pair of MGBGT V8s, there was also an MGB roadster, ?a Fiat 124 Spider and Coupe, a Ferrari Dino 308 and a beautiful Healey 3000. Other classics included a Mini Cooper S, a convertible Mustang, a Citroen Traction Avant, Holden EH wagon, an early Commodore sedan and even an orange F100 ute.
As the morning progressed more vehicles rolled up, but the dismal weather had set in and the numbers remained quite low. At 9:30 a number of participants departed the Breakfast gathering to visit Ken and Bev Purcell?s Orchid Farm in Drouin.
