MINI MOB RUN, Sunday 2nd May

Graeme Longhurst put out an invitation to Mini owners in our Club to join him on a short drive the following Sunday. The weather was great, but unfortunately there were only two starters. However, we still enjoyed a great run on a beautiful day, over some of our more scenic local roads and through the lovely countryside here in Gippy. We headed out to Poowong then to Loch via a roundabout sort of way to avoid roadworks, then on to Kongwak via GlenAlvie. The old Mobil servo was a good photo opportunity, then back through Kongwak to Bena, returning to Poowong for a bite to eat. We then headed back to Warragul via the Main South Rd, Lardners Track and across to the Korumburra Rd.

It was nice to have a chat with a couple of guys who came over to inspect the cars at Kongwak, it seems that everybody of a certain vintage has owned a Mini at some stage, and a pommy bloke even recognized the Marcos and was thrilled to see one in the flesh. It was a great day out, sharing some beautiful roads with the local MX5 and motorcycle clubs which we crossed paths with several times.

We covered about 145km and the Marcos drank less than expected, returning home with still more than half a tank of fuel. Not a bad way to spend a few hours on a splendid day.

Thanks for organizing the run Graeme.
