When the British Motor Corporation was formed in 1952 it was the largest British car company of its day, with about 40% of the British output, producing a wide range of cars under brand names including Austin, Morris, MG, Austin-Healey, Riley and Wolseley as well as a range of commercial and agricultural vehicles. The Sporting Register has always shown strong BMC support and representation, so an evening run taking advantage of daylight saving and the mild weather was organised to showcase some of our collection.
Twenty-two cars took part in the run which began in Warragul and headed out towards Darnum and Bona Vista, then up into the hills at Seaview and along the Grand Ridge Road, before returning to Warragul via Hunters Road and Lardners Track. There were six Morris Minis, including a couple of Cooper S models and a very original 850, a Morris 1100, a convertible Morris Minor, two Bug Eye Sprites, a MKIII Sprite and an MG Midget, three big Healeys, a Mini Marcos GT and six MGBs including two V8 roadsters. Despite the jokes about Lucas electrics and total-loss oiling systems, all vehicles completed the journey successfully and gathered on the lawns adjacent to the Shell Servo on the Old Princes Highway for a twilight photo session. It was a very enjoyable run and terrific to see so many well-loved classic BMC vehicles out on the road together.

I wish we could have been there in the Lotus as it has MG door handles and Lucas electrics so it is a distant relation.

I would have loved to join you and had the TD MG together with its relations but alas I am 4,500km away at present. Great photos and the slide showing the BMC make inter -relationships is interesting. I hope to see an article in the BMC magazine soon.
